OnionShare is a very popular free downloadable software program for the Mac operating system that allows you to surf the Web anonymously by using a fake Internet proxy server that acts just like the real server from whom you connect. The only thing that separates this software from most of the other proxy servers is its use of a unique "onion" address for every web page that you visit. When you visit a website, the site's Web server sends a request for information from the website's visitors through the Web socket protocol. The data that is sent through this protocol is what is displayed on the visitor's browser window.

OnionShare is a free open source tool for anonymously and securely transmitting and receiving files with Tor onion services from your computer to another computer, using either a Web browser or a file transfer agent (FTP). To use OnionShare, first download the application from the Apple website and then install the application to your Mac using the step-by-step installation wizard. Just follow the instructions and you'll be able to browse the Web anonymously using the Tor software with the ability to stop sharing confidential information. After the installation process is complete, launch the Tor software, and connect to the Internet via your Mac's local area network (LAN). When prompted, log in to your Apple ID online, using your primary account number, and create a new "Onionshare" profile in the form of an existing Yahoo email address, Gmail account, or Facebook account. Next, click the "Create Share" icon located in the lower right-hand corner of the main toolbar to upload the files you want to share to your friends' computers.
